Tunisian football bosses fire Lamouchi after World Cup thrashing

TUNIS - Tunisia coach Sabri Lamouchi has been fired following a humiliating 5-1 defeat by Sweden in their opening World Cup match.

The federation announced on Tuesday morning that Lamouchi would be replaced by Frenchman Herve Renard.

Renard will take charge of the national football team until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

The Frenchman coached Saudi Arabia to a shock win against eventual winners Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has since coached the France women's team.

The heavy defeat by Sweden has left Tunisia with a tough task to reach the knockout round.

They face Japan in their next Group F match on Saturday before wrapping up with the Netherlands.
