Twist in SAFA leadership race

JOHANNESBURG - SAFA Vice-President Bennet Bailey has thrown a wrench in the works of the presidential elections. 

The presidential candidate has announced his withdrawal from the race.

He's throwing his weight behind AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu.

It came after visits Zungu and his team made to the provinces to drum up support.

Bailey was the first to publicly confirm his bid to challenge incumbent Danny Jordaan in September.

Nominations close on 29 July, with SAFA running integrity and eligibility checks to finalise the candidate list.
