JOHANNESBURG - South Africans are warned to brace for chilly days.
The Weather Service has issued an Orange Level 8 warning for the Western Cape.
The province will be hit by two cold fronts and snow in the coming days, with more disruptive rainfall expected across the southern regions.
Weather forecaster Tokelo Chiloane said a cold front is expected from this evening into tomorrow, especially over the Western Cape.
"We are having a new set of weather systems, we can expect a cold front from this evening into tomorrow, especially over the Western Cape.
"Areas that we are worried about in terms of flooding are the Cape Town City, Cape Winelands, and Cederberg regions. We are having an orange level six warning for the disruptive rainfall in the southern parts of the Western Cape.
"We are still expecting more rainfall 70-100MM as well as 150-200. These conditions are expected to last from tonight until Tuesday. There's a high chance that it might reach Wednesday. But we are expecting a massive cold front."
Floods have forced several business owners in the Eastern Cape to close shop.
Some of their workers have been left jobless as a result.
The Kouga Municipality is one of the hardest hit.
''We have roughly about 50 staff members. We will probably be relying on unemployment insurance in the recovery period, and a person they they have families, and they have you know we have a huge empathy for that, and we will try and minimize the effect on the staff to the best of our ability.
We might be able to move events to other venues where my staff will still attend to the catering and that sort of functions, but that is up to the people involved with the event if they want to be held at another venue," said Roy Herselman of the Ferry Hotel.
