12-hour water outage for several Joburg suburbs
JOHANNESBURG - Several Johannesburg suburbs are without water due to emergency repairs.
Johannesburg Water is implementing a 12-hour outage until 10pm tonight.
The water utility says the repair work is crucial to improve the system's reliability.
The repairs come amid fears that Day Zero is looming in Gauteng.
Meanwhile, it's unclear when water will be restored in other parts of Johannesburg, after a pipeline from Honeydew Reservoir burst on Sunday.
It has left large parts of Joburg without water, including Northriding, Mogale City and Cosmo City.
Water utility company Johannesburg Water is dispatching water tankers to affected areas to mitigate the situation.
This comes after Rand Water recently undertook extensive water infrastructure maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of water supply in Gauteng.
