2024 Elections | ANC, MK registration dispute in court

JOHANNESBURG - The dispute between the ANC and uMkhonto weZiwe Party over the latter's registration to contest the polls, is playing out in the Electoral Court in Bloemfontein.

The ANC wants to overturn the IEC's decision to register MK, arguing copyright infringement by the party's founders.

Former ANC president Jacob Zuma endorsed the newly formed party and has been campaigning for it ahead of the May elections.

Several polls have indicated growing support for MK, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal, with many jumping ship from the ruling party.

The ANC is expected to argue that the credibility of the IEC might be compromised,
should MK be allowed to participate in the elections.
