2024 Elections | D-day for MK Party, Zuma to file affidavits at ConCourt

JOHANNESBURG - Today is the deadline for former president Jacob Zuma and the MK Party, to file their answering affidavits at the Constitutional Court in response to the Independent Electoral Commission.

The IEC approached the Apex Court after the Electoral Court gave Zuma the go ahead, to participate in next month's general elections.

Initially, the IEC decided that Zuma could not contest the elections, because of his 15 month sentence for contempt of court.

The law excludes candidates who have been sentenced to more than 12 months imprisonment without the option of a fine, from standing for office.
