488 suspects arrested for police killings since 2018

TSHWANE - Nearly 500 suspects have been arrested for the murder of police officers since 2018.

Nearly 80 of those arrests are from the past year alone.

Nine have been sentenced to life imprisonment, while others are still before court.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has commended the Hawks for their work in these arrests.

Ramaphosa was delivering the keynote address at the South African Police Service's annual commemoration ceremony at the Union Buildings in Tshwane

The event remembered 34 police officers and reservists who died in the line of duty in the last 12 months between 01 April 2022 and 31 March 2023.
