5 children die in fire at informal settlement near Laudium

TSHWANE - Five children died in a fire that ravaged multiple shacks at an informal settlement near Laudium in Pretoria.

Firefighters arrived on the scene in Itireleng informal settlement and recovered  5 children, aged between 1 and 7 years, burnt beyond recognition.

It is alleged their mothers, who are siblings, left them in one of the shacks and went out a nearby tavern.

The cause of the fire is still unknown as police investigations continue.
