9 arrested for illegal mining in Mbombela

MBOMBELA - A total of 9 suspects have been arrested and 30 generators seized during operation valaumgodi on a farm in Mbombela.

The operation was in response to a tip-off about illegal mining activity on a hill near the farm.

Seven suspects have been charged with contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa.

While two were nabbed for possession of gold bearing material and illegal mining equipment.
