Additional police to bolster search for Joslin Smith

SALDANHA BAY - It's been more than a week since the disappearance of 6-year-old Joslin Smith.

Now the City of Cape Town has deployed senior policing unit to assist law enforcement agencies in Saldanha Bay.

This is in response to Mayor Andre Truter's plea for more resources after police scaled down the search.

Joslin Smith disappeared while in the care of her mother's boyfriend.

A team of senior investigators, K9 unit search dogs, Marine Unit members, and watercraft as well as experienced search and rescue volunteers have been dispatched to the area.

Truter is also pleading with provincial police to reconsider their decision to scale down resources,
and rather intensify the search for the Grade 1 pupil.
