Authorities crackdown on spaza shops

JOHANNESBURG - Joburg's Health and Social Development MMC, Ennie Makhofola, says 3600 spaza shops have been found non-compliant in Region D, Soweto.

Makhafola says urgent regulations around local spaza shops are needed before tragedy strikes.

Health and law enforcement authorities were in Soweto on Saturday inspecting the quality of foods sold at spaza shops.

Patrollers will be deployed in the area from the end of this month.
