JOHANNESBURG - The Nkabinde Enquiry might be postponed to next year after National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shamila Batohi pulled the brake on proceedings.
Batohi halted her testimony without the panel’s permission, prompting criticism from the inquiry.
She insists she is not withdrawing, but wants to consult with her legal counsel.
Her decision shocked the panel which had been expecting her testimony after lunch.
Tense exchange around her conduct took place between Batohi and Enquiry Chairperson, Justice Baaitse Elizabeth Nkabinde.
Batohi has been in the hot seat for 3 weeks at the Nkabinde Enquiry, investigating whether suspended Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions Andrew Chauke is fit to hold office.
