JOHANNESBURG - The body of 3-year-old Mojalefa Savhuli has been recovered.
His remains were found in a stream in Roodepoort on Thursday around 8am.
Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Mavela Masondo confirmed this.
Masondo says the circumstances surrounding the death of the child is unknown however investigations are underway.
"We have opened a case of inquest to investigate what happened. We are not sure if the child was killed somewhere and dumped in this dam or if the child drowned," he explained
Savhuli disappeared on Sunday, as he followed other children to a local shop.
The incident sparked outrage with community members accusing police of dragging their feet.
But Masondo maintains that they have been hands-on in the case and have been searching for the young boy.
