JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg High Court has ruled that the City of Johannesburg must expedite the process of allocation and permits for the street traders evicted from the streets last week.
The process will commence on 4 November and must be completed by 18 November.
The City and the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of SA continued their legal battle over the eviction of informal traders on Monday.
It follows the city's clean-up operation that saw hundreds of traders removed from De Villiers Street in the CBD.
The South African National Traders’ Retail Alliance slammed the removal of traders from De Villiers Street as unlawful.
