JOHANNESBURG - SALGA has urged government departments to work together to sort out water issues in Lesedi Municipality.
Violent clashes broke out when residents protested over water shortages.
Angry residents said the area had been without water for three weeks and they torched the mayor's house.
SALGA president, Bheki Stofile, said the matter needed urgent attention.
“We're concerned about the manner in which the matter is being handled and we're looking forward to working together with the Department of Water and Sanitation and addressing the matter of water in that area. And of course, water is a right and a matter that needs to be addressed as quickly as possible by government as a whole."
