MANGAUNG - The Mkhubeni family wants answers from the Correctional Services Department and G4S.
Bongile Mkhubeni says even after Correctional Services Commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale's explanation on the matter, it is not yet clear who killed his brother Mpho on 12 March.
Mpho Makhubeni was incarcerated at the Mangaung Correctional Centre for murder from November 2014. During a raid at the Centre, Mkhubeni died after what Mangaung officials said was an asthma attack.
Thobakgale says the death was suspicious, and further investigations were done. The post-mortem revealed that Mkhubeni died from succumbing to blunt force injuries complicated by pepper spray inhalation.
According to Thobakgale the temporary manager was not informed of the raid before it happened.
This leads the Mkhubeni family to want to know who was in charge and who was to blame for the incident.
'We want them to take responsibility,' says Bongile Mkhubeni.
Thobakgale says there are officials who have been suspended. The matter is not a murder case with the police.
