JOHANNESBURG - Murderer and rapist Thabo Bester application to be sent to a prison in Gauteng has been dismissed.

Judge John Holland-Muter said there was nothing untoward about Bester’s transfer to Ebongweni Super Max prison in Kokstad as it was done for security purposes.

Bester claimed his transfer to Kokstad declared unconstitutional.

He further argued that the move was a sham that prejudiced his right to a fair trial.

He said the transfer to eBongweni Supermax made it impossible to consult with his Gauteng-based lawyers.

But the Correctional Services maintained that the move was lawful.
