CAPE TOWN - Former Cape Town Human Settlements MMC Malusi Booi and his nine co-accused will spend the weekend in jail as they await the outcome of their bail applications.
The state’s case is that Booi had a corrupt relationship with alleged 28s gang leader, Ralph Stanfield, and his wife, Nicole Johnson.
The case centres around alleged tender fraud committed within the Cape Metro.
With Booi the head of Human Settlements at the time, the state revealed that questionable tenders worth over a billion rand were awarded to companies linked to the Stanfields .
The state proposed bail for the accused of up to R200,000.
The magistrate will announce on Tuesday whether the accused will be granted bail and how much each will have to post.
