JOHANNESBURG - Provincial Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni, says Gauteng still battles a high number of multiple murders, despite a ten percent decrease.
The country's most populated province has seen a slight reduction in some crimes, but not yet meaningful to say the tide is turning.

Mthombeni released the latest Gauteng crime statistics on Thursday. He said Gauteng has made progress in the fight against crime by recording a 10.8% decrease in the murder rate.
The Gauteng top cop also highlighted that most of the murders happen in public spaces, followed by those that happen inside victims' or perpetrators' place of residence.
Gauteng is also making strides against gun violence.
The province recovered the highest number of illegal firearms and ammunition.
