DA rejects Eskom CEO Marokane's appointment

JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance is rejecting the appointment of Dan Marokane as Eskom CEO.

It blames him, in part, for the current financial crisis at the utility.

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan made the announcement on Friday.

The Eskom board is welcoming Marokane's return after he was kicked out during the state capture years.

But the DA says Marokane played a part as head of group capital in the entity's current financial crisis.
