JOHANNESBURG - The Western Cape High Court will hear President Cyril Ramaphosa’s bid to overturn the Section 89 independent panel report on the Phala Phala matter from 2 to 4 September 2026.
Ramaphosa claims the panel’s process was flawed and failed to properly assess the legality and admissibility of the evidence.
He is also challenging the panel’s finding that the allegations could amount to impeachable offences.

The report, led by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, was compiled in 2022.
It examined allegations tied to the theft of foreign currency from Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.
The legal challenge comes as Parliament prepares to set up an impeachment committee, following a Constitutional Court order to consider the panel’s findings.
