EASTERN CAPE - Police in the Eastern Cape have shot and killed three male suspects, aged between 25 and 35, during a shootout.
The incident happened while members of the OR Tambo Stock Theft Prevention Task Team were recovering suspected stolen cattle.
According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo, the task team patrols stock theft hotspots in Bityi, Tsolo, Qumbu and Libode.
Matyolo say the police official escaped the crossfire uninjured.
He said three unlicensed 9mm pistols with erased serial numbers were recovered inside the rondavel where the suspects hid.
Also recovered locked in a shack, were nine goats suspected to have been stolen.
