Electoral Amendment Act challenged in court

JOHANNESBURG - The Constitutional Court will hear two challenges to the Electoral Amendment Act.

One is over the threshold set for independent candidates to contest the national election.

The second deals with the number of seats available to them in the National Assembly.

The cases were brought by One South Africa and the Independent Candidates Association.

One SA also argues that Parliament did not consider the input of various parties.
