Eskom announces appointment of transmission company board

JOHANNESBURG - The Eskom Board has announced the appointment of the National Transmission Company of South Africa Board.

The Board's appointment constitutes one of the most important steps in the legal separation of Eskom into three entities, namely Generation, Distribution, and Transmission.

The National Transmission Company of South Africa is the first of Eskom’s three divisions to achieve legal separation.

It is already registered and has secured the necessary licenses from the National Energy Regulator of South Africa.

This takes the company one step closer to becoming operational.

The board consists of 12 members, including Lungile Mashele, an energy economist and Professor Mark Swilling, who was the Chairperson of the DBSA.
