Eskom implements Stage 5 blackouts

JOHANNESBURG - Stage 5 blackouts during the day and Stage 6 power cuts at night.

That's what South Africans will have to endure from Wednesday morning until Saturday.

Eskom says this is due to insufficient generation capacity and the need to further replenish emergency reserves.

Stage 5 will go on until 8pm thereafter Stage 6 will kick in until 5am the following day.

The utility says this pattern will continue until  the weekend.

Meanwhile, Kusile Unit 2 has been synchronised into the grid and Eskom believes this is significant milestone in a bid to increase energy availability.
