Eskom says system stable but constrained

JOHANNESBURG - As the country hunkers down in the face of plummeting temperatures and thunderstorm warnings, Eskom says adequate emergency reserves are in place and are being strategically deployed this week.

The power utility is also planning on returning two thousand, five hundred and fifty megawatts of generation capacity to service before this evening's peak, to further stabilise the grid.

Medupi Unit 4 is also in the final stages of its recovery, following damage in 2021.

The unit, which contributes eight hundred megawatts to the grid, will be back in action next month.
