JOHANNESBURG -Police said National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader Fadiel Adams was not taken to Westville Police Station due to security reasons.
Equally, his location will not be disclosed.
Adams arrived in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday night, where he has been formally charged with fraud and defeating and or obstructing the course of justice.
He was arrested on Tuesday by the SAPS Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) at the Pelican Park Parliamentary Village in Cape Town, over allegations that he interfered with ongoing investigations into the murder of the late ANC Youth League Leader, Sindiso Magaqa
Briefing the media on the matter, police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that Adams' lawyers have been made aware that he would not be kept at Westville Police Station
“This is to protect him and the integrity of the entire process. We have taken a decision not to divulge his whereabouts,” Mathe added

Adams had been in transit since Tuesday morning after he was arrested in Cape Town.
Mathe addressed concerns over the secrecy behind the transporting of Adams, saying it is standard protocol.
“We felt that we should not give out his movement, location, or any logistical details. This does not pertain to Fadiel Adams; we do not give out those details to any suspect that we are transporting. That is a security measure put in place by the police to ensure safety and security of the suspect, the team, and to protect the integrity of the process,” he said.
She confirmed that Adams was driven to KZN, and during that time, he was afforded regular stops and was not transported through the night but rather stayed over in a nearby town.
“He was given his eight-hour rest, booked into a local police station, and he was fed and received breakfast, lunch, and supper. He has been well taken care of,” Mathe added.
