JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Acting Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba has laid a formal complaint with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) against embattled Pretoria High Court Judge Portia Phahlane.
In a statement by the Office of the Chief Justice on Friday, it said the JSC, will after considering submission from Ledwaba and Phahlane decide on the treatment of the complaint.
Both Ledwaba and Phahlane have until 27 February to make submissions.
“Judge Phahlane will not preside in any part-head matter until the JSC complaint process has run its course, in line with the bail conditions imposed in the criminal proceedings against Judge Phahlane,” read the statement.
Phahlane is currently on special leave pending finalisation of the criminal proceedings. This follows claims that she received bribes in exchange for favourable judgments.
She along with her co-accused will stand trial on 6 March.
