The maintenance began on 30 June and is expected to continue until 21 July, affecting the Eikenhof, Zwartkopjes, and Palmiet pumping stations.

The department says it is working closely with municipalities to reduce the impact on healthcare services.

Water tankers have been dispatched to some of the affected areas.
