JOHANNESBURG - Over 40 000 parents are waiting to apply to schools for the 2026 academic year.
This as the Gauteng online admissions for Grade 1 and Grade 8 pupils is now open.
Education MEC Matome Chiloane is assuring parents all children will be placed, urging families to remain calm.
"The system will be open however, they must be patient with us, and they must have confidence that we will place their children," Chiloane says.
The online portal will remain open until 29 August, giving parents over a month to submit applications.
Parents should expect school placement confirmations by 16 October.
Chilione says an enhancement to the system will prevent any potential technical glitches and crashes.
"We have also improved our system. It will not crash. Go very smoothly," he assures.
