Government ordered to end outages at public facilities

JOHANNESBURG - The High Court in Pretoria has ordered the Electricity Minister to end blackouts at public facilities.

These include health facilities, schools and police stations.

It also ruled that power cuts are a result of Eskom and government’s failure.

The court found it infringes on the basic rights of South Africans.

The application was brought by political parties, trade unions and civil society.

The Presidency says it's studying the judgment.
