PRETORIA - Suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department boss Julius Mkhwanazi said the allegations against him have destroyed his life and affected his family.
He said the stress has left him struggling to sleep.
“This has changed my life. It has made me to be under house arrest. I don’t sleep at night,” he told the Madlanga Commission today.
He also admitted to a close relationship with slain whistle-blower Jaco Hanekom.
Hanekom was killed in 2023, shortly after exposing an allegedly unlawful EMPD operation that led to the arrest of several officers.
"Jaco was introduced to me by our officers,” he said.
