Hawks warn Gauteng becoming human trafficking hub

PRETORIA - The Hawks say Gauteng is becoming a hub for human trafficking operations.

Officials say modern-day slavery is one of their focus areas as they widen their scope of investigations.

On Thursday, suspected undocumented foreign nationals were found in a gated community in Centurion.

It's believed they are part of a group that had been trafficked.

The Hawks say they're aware about these operations and have established a task team to intercept those responsible.

The Hawks have called on community members to continue providing intel and assistance in witnessing and intercepting some of the operations.
