VOSLOORUS - Missing Vosloorus businessman Mazwi Kubheka has been found alive.

Kubheka had been missing since 2 April. His family suspected he was kidnapped by rival spaza shop owners.

His sister, Nonhle, said they received an unexpected call saying Mazwi was at the police station.

"Words cannot describe the relief I felt when I heard he was at the police station," she said.

Nonhle said her brother had to be taken to the hospital because he was in bad shape. The family believes he was tortured.

"He's bad. He's shaking like a leaf. He is jumpy. He cries, and he is angry," she said.

Authorities are expected to have a briefing to give updates on Kubheka's case.

The Kubheka family released a statement about how he made it back to the police station.

"He was dropped off near a roadblock, where he approached the officers on duty and told them his name. They immediately recognised him due to the widespread awareness of his case and assisted him.

"The officers then directed him to the Vosloorus Police Station. As they were attempting to locate the taxi that had transported him, they asked him to proceed into the station on his own, which he did.

"We would like to sincerely thank the community, friends, and everyone who offered support, prayers, and assistance. Your kindness has meant more than words can express."
