Johannesburg Water announces water throttling measures

JOHANNESBURG - Large parts of Johannesburg are experiencing dry taps on Saturday and residents are being cautioned to use water sparingly to reduce demand.

The central, Deep South, Randburg, Midrand and Roodepoort systems are all constrained.

Surburbs in northern Johannesburg are also without water on Saturday afternoon, due to a burst pipe in Bryanston.

Johannesburg water says there is no estimated restoration time available at this stage but water tankers will be supplied.

At the same time, Johannesburg Water has also announced that reservoirs and towers will be throttled daily for 14 hours starting on Sunday.

Taps meanwhile, remain dry in Coronationville and Westbury.
