Justice for Meyiwa | Investigator says Kelly Khumalo should have been arrested in 2020

PRETORIA - The decision not to charge singer Kelly Khumalo for Senzo Meyiwa's murder came from the National Prosecuting Authority.

That's according to lead investigator Bongani Gininda.

He's told the court that prosecutors instructed him to conduct further investigations to solidify links between Khumalo and the accused.

Khumalo has been named as the alleged mastermind behind what the state believes was a contract killing of her then-boyfriend.

Gininda says that in confessions accused Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi name Khumalo as the mastermind. Phone records link her to the other two accused. One of them the coordinator. And the other, the alleged shooter.

Khumalo was meant to be charged alongside the other accused in November 2020, but, Gininda says, the National Prosecuting Authority did not authorise a warrant of arrest.
