Kemi Behari and Julius Mkhwanazi granted R50 000 bail

JOHANNESBURG - Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi and suspended City of Ekurhuleni legal services head, Kemi Behari, have been granted bail of R50 000 each.

This was heard by the Germiston Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

This, however, was not the reality for the pair's co-accused, former Ekurhuleni City Manager Imogen Mashazi and Ekurhuleni’s suspended head of human resources, Linda Gxasheka, as their bail application was adjourned to Friday.

The four were arrested overnight by the Commission Recommended Task Team investigation.

Both Mkhwanazi and Behari’s bail came with strict conditions.

Those conditions include them submitting their travel documents to the investigating officer and reporting to the Brooklyn Police Station every Friday between 5am and 8pm until the matter is concluded.

They have also been ordered not to contact employees of the City or any municipality attached to the finance section, human resources section, or the procurement section unless in regard to the disciplinary inquiry.

If the pair have any intentions of travelling abroad or leaving Gauteng, they must inform the investigating officer.

Gxesheka and Mashazi remain in custody.
