MAUBANE, NW - A 26-year-old man is behind bars for the murder of his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend at Maubane in North West.
Kgaogelo Marota was stabbed after an altercation at a tavern, on Thursday night.
The suspect then made a chilling confession that he posted on social media following the fatal attack on Marota.
A video clip has been making rounds online as some people caught the incident on camera.
Her family is fuming at the community for filming the attack instead of helping her.
"I feel like the community of this place failed me. How could someone be stabbed, and then you guys are taking videos. So, I'm asking myself, what kind of a community is Maubane?," Thabiso Seema, who is Marota's father uttered.
One witness says he tried to intervene but the suspect pulled out a gun on him.
"I found people there at the scene. He was stabbing her with a knife. After he stabbed her, I went close, and that's when he took out a gun and cocked it. He said whoever wants to assist her must dare to do so. He would have killed anyone like a dog," the witness explained.
Marota is alleged to have been stabbed 8 times or more and was left for death after she collapsed while trying to run away from the suspect.
But the violence didn’t end there. The suspect allegedly also stabbed his current girlfriend, who was rushed to hospital where she is recieving medical treatment.
The suspect was arrested on Friday morning at Carousel View near Maubane. He is expected to make a court appearance in the Themba Magistrates Court on Monday.
