JOHANNESBURG - The trial of Bafana Mahungela, accused of murdering Johannesburg teacher Kirsten Kluyts, will return to court on Monday.
The 23-year-old former Varsity College student was arrested in November 2023 after CCTV footage showed him leaving the scene of the crime wearing Kluyts' t-shirt.
Mahungela is accused of kidnapping, robbing, and murdering Kluyts.
The 24-year-old teacher’s body was discovered on a jogging path in park. A post-mortem revealed she died from blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation.
Kluyts was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of her murder.
Mahungela maintains his innocence and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
