KZN, Limpopo and Mpumalanga bracing for bad weather

 

JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal is bracing for Level 6 disruptive rains expected from Wednesday.

Officials say this could result in disasters.

The Level 6 alert indicates a high probability of flooding, as a significant amount of rainfall exceeding 100mm is expected over the extreme northeastern parts of KZN.

Areas likely to be affected include uMhlathuze, Mtubatuba, Big Five Hlabisa, Nongoma, Jozini, uPhongolo and Umhlabuyalingana local municipalities.

At the same time, CoGTA Minister Thembi Nkadimeng is urging communities in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal to be extra vigilant as tropical storm Filipo makes landfall.  

Heavy rains accompanied by storms and flooding are possible in KZN, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
