Lady R Report | US appreciates investigation into Lady R presence in SA

JOHANNESBURG - The US Embassy in Pretoria has responded to the findings announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, of the probe into Russian vessel Lady R's docking in Simon's Town.

The Embassy says it appreciates the serious approach by the independent panel, in looking into the matter.

This followed public claims by its ambassador, Reuben Brigety in May that South Africa supplied Russia with arms, which he said were loaded on that vessel.

Embassy Spokesperson David Feldman says the US government shared some information regarding Lady R's presence in South Africa to assist the investigating panel.

The Embassy lauded President Cyril Ramaphosa for his commitment to investigating the matter, and pledged US cooperation in advancing progress on the two countries' shared priorities.
