Masemola and Sibiya go toe-to-toe

JOHANNESBURG - Some policing unions and legal experts say Shadrack Sibiya may have a solid case to review National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola's, decision to suspend him.

However Masemola has made it clear that he won't give in to the ultimatums the Deputy National Commissioner for crime detection set.

Sibiya is demanding Masemola to reinstate him or face legal action.

One legal expert believes the National Police Commissioner may have got it wrong.

"The letter is clear and concise. And I think looking at the letter and SAPS regulations on discipline, they've got a good case and there's merit," said Elton Hart, a legal expert.

Masemola asked Sibiya to take leave of absence.

This after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi's explosive revelations.

Mkhwanazi accused Sibiya and other high-ranking officials of political interference and corruption.

Sibiya has denied these claims.
