JOHANNESBURG - The Randburg Magistrate's Court will make a ruling on a section 174 application.
The application was brought by eight officers in Deputy President Paul Mashatile's VIP Protection unit.
The officers have applied to have the charges against them dropped.
They are accused of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, reckless and negligent driving and malicious damage to property, among others.
The eight VIP Protection unit members were filmed assaulting trainee soldiers on the N1 highway.
It's a case that civil rights group Action Society says highlights the abuse of power.
And argues that there is enough evidence for the trial to continue.
