Meyiwa judge apologises for 'ill-advised' comments

PRETORIA - The judge in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has apologised for comments he made regarding the behaviour of black lawyers after defense attorney, Thulani Mngomezulu, failed to show up in court.

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng’s words prompted backlash from the Black Lawyers Association.

Reading out a statement today, Mokgoatlheng admits his comments could have been interpreted as ill-advised and offensive.
