NPA appeals Nulane Investment judgment

JOHANNESBURG - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) wants the Supreme Court of Appeal to reverse the acquittal of accused in the R25-million Nulane Investments fraud and money laundering case.

The first State Capture trial ended in eight accused walking free.

The suspects included government officials and Gupta-linked associates.

The matter relates to payments the Free State government maid to Nulane to conduct a feasibility study that led to the controversial and failed Gupta-linked Vrede Dairy farm project.

The High Court in Bloemfontein lamented the manner in which the matter was investigated.

The NPA believes the appeals court produce a different outcome.
