Ntshavheni’s coup risk comment reckless, unnecessary – crime expert

JOHANNESBURG - A security expert has criticised comments made by Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, about a potential coup attempt in South Africa.

Jacob Mofokeng says the minister’s remarks are unnecessary and reckless.

He argues that such information, especially when speculative, only stirs panic.

Ntshavheni revealed that authorities had identified a potential threat aimed at overthrowing the government.

She assured the public that the government has measures are in place to thwart any hostile takeover, but Mofokeng insists the minister owes the public more clarity.
