Outa heading to court over e-toll debt collection

JOHANNESBURG - OUTA has filed legal action against SANRAL and three government ministers, in the North Gauteng High Court.

It wants the court to declare that SANRAL has abandoned more than 2,000 e-toll debt claims, after six years of inaction.

The organisation has defended these cases since 2015, under its e-toll Defence Umbrella and argues SANRAL stopped pursuing them after a 2019 board resolution.

If successful, the claims totaling more than R265-million will fall away.

SANRAL has filed notice of intention to oppose the case, but no court date has been set.

CEO Wayne Duvenage discussed this with eNCA.
