Over R300m paid out to Marikana families: Solicitor General

 

JOHANNESBURG - Solicitor-General Fhedzisani Pandelani says government has thus far paid over R330 million to families who sued the state after people lost their lives during the Marikana massacre.

It has been 11 years since 44 people died during a strike for better wages at Lonmin Platinum Mine in the North West.

34 miners were killed when police opened fire on a crowd of striking mine workers.
