Police discover arms, ammunition cache in Mitchells Plain

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police have made a major guns bust, recovering 19 fire arms and an assortment of ammunition.

The arms cache was concealed in cooler boxes and safes at a house in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain.

Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says the guns and ammunition found form part of an orchestrated plan to combat gang violence affecting several communities in Cape Town.

He says this find, along with seven other guns found in Bishop Lavis last week, was as a result of a cordon and search operation, as well as locking down certain areas on the Cape Flats.
