Police make breakthrough in kidnapping syndicate

JOHANNESBURG - Police have broken up a syndicate linked to over 50 kidnappings in the country.

Minister Bheki Cele says this is just one of the successes in dealing with the scourge of abductions for ransom.

He said this during an update on the fight against crime.

"Police have broken the back of this particular kidnapping syndicate that has so far been linked to over 50 kidnappings, to be exact 56 kidnappings where ransom demands were being made," he said.
